Surplus Representation originated as a temporary installation in an abandoned army movie theatre in Sausalito, CA, during a residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts. A second version, using tables, chairs, doors and plywood found at the gallery, was shown at New Langton Arts in San Francisco, CA. A third version, subsequently adjusted during the run of the exhibition, was displayed at the San Francisco Art Commission Gallery. The fourth version, above, from an altered photographic documentation of the third version, was painted in China by 1st-Art-Gallery.
